ElevenLabs has released Studio 4.0, a major update to its ElevenCreative video editor. It combines AI video, image, voice, music, and sound-effect generation with editing, captions, and export in a single project. The company announced the update on September 21, 2026.
The update also expands Studio Agent, ElevenLabs’ conversational AI assistant. The agent can create a first cut on the timeline, place clips and voiceovers, generate media, synchronize sound effects, and continue working after a user takes manual control of the project.
The broader change is less about adding another standalone generation model and more about bringing multiple AI-powered creative tasks together into one editing environment.
Quick Summary
- ElevenLabs Studio 4.0 brings AI generation and video editing into one workspace.
- Users can generate video, images, voice, music and sound effects within a project.
- Studio Agent works as an AI co-editor that can make timeline changes from natural-language instructions.
- The timeline has been redesigned for multi-scene and multi-track projects.
- Captions can be edited directly on the timeline.
- Studio 4.0 also adds project collaboration and clip-level comments.
- The update is designed to reduce the need to move between separate AI generation and editing tools.
What Is New in ElevenLabs Studio 4.0?
Studio 4.0 is designed around an integrated production workflow. Instead of generating a video, exporting it, moving it into an editor, creating narration somewhere else, and adding music separately, users can perform those steps inside the same project.
ElevenLabs says Studio 4.0 can generate video directly from prompts, create images for storyboards and stills, add voiceovers from more than 10,000 voices across 32-plus languages, and create music and sound effects. Generated material is placed directly on the timeline.
The workflow also supports iterative editing. If a generated shot is close to what a creator wants, it can be refined in the project rather than exported and rebuilt into a replacement file.
That makes the timeline itself the central workspace for both AI generation and conventional editing.
Studio Agent Became an AI Co-Editor
One of the most significant parts of Studio 4.0 is Studio Agent, which ElevenLabs describes as an AI co-editor built into the Studio timeline.
Users can describe the video they want through a conversational interface. After that, the agent can draft a first cut by placing clips, generating voiceovers, and synchronizing sound effects. It can also analyze footage frame by frame, allowing instructions tied to specific moments in a video.
The agent is not designed to remove manual editing. Users can take over the timeline, make their own changes, and hand control back to the agent.
ElevenLabs’ documentation also identifies two operating modes. Create mode allows the agent to edit the timeline, while Plan mode lets it outline an editing approach without modifying the project.
Studio Agent can also search and place voice models and sound effects within its conversational interface. For image and video generation, the system selects from predefined models and allows users to change them before generation.
A Rebuilt Timeline for Multi-Scene Projects
Studio 4.0 also introduces a redesigned timeline aimed at more complex video projects.
The editor supports frame-level zoom for precise cuts, clip snapping, and synchronized clip movement. Captions are treated as timeline elements, allowing users to split or merge caption segments and correct transcription errors directly in the edit.
This is particularly relevant for projects with multiple scenes and tracks, where moving one element can otherwise create synchronization problems.
ElevenLabs says the playback engine has also been rebuilt so scrubbing, seeking, and previewing remain responsive as projects grow and contain more layers.
Collaboration has Moved Into the Editing Workspace
Studio 4.0 adds collaboration directly to individual project assets.
Users can comment on clips or other assets, keeping feedback attached to the relevant piece of work rather than distributing comments across separate communication threads.
That approach makes Studio 4.0 relevant not only to individual creators but also to marketing and production teams working on social videos, product content, explainers, and other multi-stage projects.
ElevenLabs specifically positions the updated Studio around creators and marketers producing finished video from generated assets. This includes social clips, product teasers, narrated explainers, and cinematic sequences.
How Studio 4.0 Changes AI Video Workflow?
The most significant distinction with Studio 4.0 is that generation and editing are no longer treated as separate stages.
Traditional generative-video workflows require creators to move between an image or video generator, a voice platform, a music tool, and a conventional editor. Studio 4.0 puts these components inside one project.
That creates a workflow in which a creator can generate a shot, place it on the timeline, add narration, create music and sound effects, correct captions, and make conventional edits without leaving the project.
Studio Agent adds another layer by allowing some operations to be initiated naturally.
This does not make Studio a fully autonomous video-production system. ElevenLabs’ documentation explicitly maintains manual control, and users can switch between agent-assisted and manual editing during the same workflow.
Availability and pricing
Studio 4.0 is available through Eleven Creative Studio. The Studio page currently lists the Free, Starter, Creator, and Pro plans, with monthly prices of $0, $6, $22, and $99, respectively. This is before applicable taxes, levies, and duties.
Studio Agent is available across all plans, according to ElevenLabs’ documentation. Its conversational usage is billed according to token consumption across input, output, thinking, cache-read, and cache-write categories, while media generation uses the standard rates for the relevant capabilities.
Studio Agent is currently available online, with no API access to the agent itself.
The combination of AI generation, timeline editing, and agent-assisted production makes ElevenLabs Studio 4.0 a broader creative-production environment rather than simply another AI video-generation interface. Its main change is the consolidation of generation and editing into one workspace, while keeping manual control available throughout the process.
